This story is written in a script format. That means that it is divided up into scenes and episodes, like a TV series--like the Sailor Moon anime. It shouldn't be that hard to follow though; you should have little difficulty reading it. If you do, just email me (the address is in the bottom right-hand corner under Contact). Each Premiere Episode (i.e. the newest episode) has a link displayed (upper right-hand corner under Episodes). It gets a special layout that includes character pictures and even a background music jukebox to go along with the script. (Just follow the script and it will tell you which song to play, though they should be in order.) After a while of course, that episode won't be the newest anymore. When I update and post a new episode, its link will appear at the bottom/upper right, and the older episodes will be archived on a basic HTML page. Just click on the link below the Premiere Episode, called Past Episodes to view the older episodes. See? Nice and simple. ^_^
The schools teach that under mysterious circumstances, human civilization and the moogle race were wiped from the world, Gaia, 1,000 years ago. However, those were "prehistoric" humans who possessed the power of "Magic"--an ancient art lost in the dregs of prehistory. Modern humanity somehow hid during this Catastrophe and survived. They began to rebuild soon afterward over the ruins left behind. Scholars believe no one remembers anything due to the properties of Magic. Today it is just a generally accepted truth. No one knows what really happened….
Artemicion, a moogle who somehow survived the Catatrophe, does not remember who the "princesses" are; all he knows is what his mistress told him: "Find the Sailor Sorceresses if the world should ever be in peril again." And so, Artemicion went off to find his destiny by searching the dreams of young women. One day, he searched the dreams of a flower girl in the slums….
This story takes place in an alternate universe (see below), therefore some character relationships will be altered. (I mostly watch video games; I've played some of them). Therefore, please don't correct me about character personalities and relationships. This is an alternate universe! In this story, Hojo (FFVII) and Citan (Xenogears) are brothers, for example. We all know in reality that's not true obviously. Similarly, some characters will be related to others/fall for others/be friends with others that they are not with truly. That's the point. See, I crafted this storyline BASED on the original games, but loosely. This storyline is my own, so basically the relationships are my own. Remember, this is a Sailormoon-style setting. So speaking of setting….
Everyone lives in a super-combined Square-Enix world, where all the games are one. (I realize technically Xenosaga is Namco's, but the staff is mainly Square-Enix people. ^.^) I'll call this world--Gaia. Yes, Gaia is the name of the FFIX world. So what? ^_^ Most of it is based on FFVIII, though, due to the teen-power setup. The youngsters, from 5 to 24 (college ages go 3 extra years for Masters), all go to Midgar Garden…well, a Garden. Different Gardens exist around the world; it's the standard school system. SeeD is college…that's it. The goal of Garden is not to defeat the Sorceress but rather just to educate its students. It's more like just an elite academy for all ages. Gardens are actual buildings in cities…. Balamb is a small town, so instead I made the Garden sit in the great city of Midgar. Confusing? I know, but it'll all make sense later. The world consists of several countries/city-states mostly identical to the originals: Midgar, Galbadia, Termina, Burmecia, Gagazet, Bevelle, Alexandria, Balamb, Trabia, Dollet, Luca, Gold Saucer, Second Militia, Lahan, Traverse Town, Lindblum, and the excavator's dream: the Forgotten Capital. The world is pretty modern, so the FFIX locales are considerably different. (Alexandria still has a medieval feel to it, though.) Mako is the major energy source, and it is not Lifestream OR Materia and is not harmful in this story. There are malls, hangouts, arenas, etc. Perfect for a Sailormoon-spinoff. ^_^
