Americanime

Inspiration for my projects

Many non-gamers get into games by watching anime and vice versa. I did! I have seen just as many games as anime, so obviously games are a major influence in my style. One day I hope that at least one of my series will be adapted and turned into an anime series--either that, or a video game, which is a media form I also love. If that dream actually does come true, here are some inspirations you'd be likely to spot:

Ideal Soundtrack

Like many other animes (and games), several composers work together to write songs on the complete OST. On my soundtracks, Takanori Arisawa (Sailormoon) and Hayato Matsuo (Magic Knight Rayearth) would be ideal. I'd take Yoko Kanno, too, but who wouldn't? If I could hire game composers, the obvious answers would be Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda, Junya Nakano, or Masashi Hamauzu. ...Okay, ESPECIALLY Masashi Hamauzu.

Force

I would like to make at least one magical girl anime, and that's probably going to be Hyper Dimension. Magical girl animes are like:

...Anyway, the point is that I'd like a color-coded force of girls; I'm not sure how many girls. At least three.

Character Colors

I need vivid, unique colors for character schemes (eyes and hair). Just about everyone in MKR and X/1999 are good examples. The three MKR girls all have hair representing their elements.

Here are some more examples:

Colors vivid like:

Art Style

The art style, obviously, would be mine (since it's my anime/manga), but my art inspiration comes from Tetsuya Nomura (Final Fantasy 7,8,10,11, Parasite Eve 1 & 2, The Bouncer, Kingdom Hearts series, Ehrgeiz). Come on, he draws and directs! That's basically where I hope to be someday. Plus, every one of his characters I end up loving, and his style is very unique. I must learn it. Train me, Nomura! XD

I really admire CLAMP's style, as well; the level of detail and beauty placed into each piece is astounding. The main problem I have with their style, however, is how tall and skinny the characters always are. In addition, I tend to like the more mature, thin-eyed characters rather than the huge-eyed, cutesy ones--and that's most of their main characters. -_-

Weapon Design

Alrighty. Now my brother Sean is super-good at making all sorts of weapons, but I doubt he'll be in the animation business anyway. As a result of this, I must learn to draw weapons like Nomura or CLAMP. *sigh* Art school, here I come!

Armor/Costume Design

All me. I admire many different animes for the heroes' choices in clothing, but my charas have got to have me in 'em. Therefore, I take a little of what I like from everything and combine 'em. For example, in Chronicles of Olde, Gren's Pyro Forte suit was based off a character I saw in the movie Dune. Remember, my inspiration can be from anywhere. Some of my favorite armors (where they're from):

Fight Sequence/Poses

Here is an essential part. Fight scenes I can do myself, but posing and presentation is also important. Here are some animes/games where I admire this category. Again, these are not the only ones I like.

Battle System

All things considered, games are excluded from this category. I still try to invent a creative battle system to this day, but there are some animes I wish to match in aesthetic genius.
