Games

{FINALFANTASYVII} What can I say? This game started it all: my obsession with RPGs...and videogames in general. {FINALFANTASYX} ...And conversely, this game introduced me to the next set of 'entire ensemble' fandom. Really, FF7 and FFX are the only FFs where I like pretty much ALL of the characters. The stories ain't bad, either. ^_^ {DEVILMAYCRYseries} I don't have a favorite...yet. I just like the series in general. Don't discriminate, appreciate! XD {CHRONOTRIGGER} You can say what you want about Final Fantasy VI, but Chrono Trigger totally owns that game in terms of old-school RPGs--IN MY OPINION. Definitely my favorite 16-bit game of all time. The game is *fun*, for starters, and it has a unique storyline dealing with time travel. I lurve it. -_- {KINGDOMHEARTSseries} Tetsuya Nomura artwork? Check. Awesomely epic battles and tons of evolving skills? Check. Beautiful game score? Check. Loveable (and recognizable for Disney's sake) characters? Check. Utada Hikaru? Check, check, check. This series wins at life. O.O {TALESOFTHEABYSS} I have three words to sum up why I am now a fan of this game: strong character development. {VALKYRIEPROFILE:SILMERIA} There are so many factors that make this game great to me. On a superficial level, the graphics are amazing. As always, I'm a fan of flashy graphics and coolly choreographed Finishing Strikes. But also what attracted me to this game is the storyline. It's...somber, but in a good way. The characters (especially Alicia) are believable (though I have issues with the pacing). The excellent music only adds to the dark, mystical atmosphere of this game. I already liked VP, but I really don't want to join TWO VP fanlistings, so...here. ^_^

Game Characters

{AURON/finalfantasyx} Okay. Let's get one thing straight. ...I'm obsessed with Auron, and he's mine. He's my favorite character of all time, so all you other fangirls can go jump in a ditch. (Yes, that really is the worst insult I'll come up with. And yes, you oversensitive otaku, I'm just kidding.) {SEPHIROTH/finalfantasyvii} Does anyone else around here feel sorry for Sephiroth? I mean, the guy's been manipulated and controlled his whole life. I don't think he says a single word in the whole game that wasn't influenced by someone else. Jenova. Hojo. Shinra. Heck, maybe even Ansem in Kingdom Hearts (though I don't know what his story is in that game; he has virtually none in the US version >_<). Yeah, he's fine, but there are plenty of long silver-haired bishounen out there older than he is. Sephy stands out in my mind because I truly believe he's more of a puppet than Cloud is, and he never recovers! He just remains insane and gets killed...twice! Poor, poor Sephy. *hugs him* {NIGHTMARE/soulcaliburii&iii} What can I say about this one other than...OFFER YOUR SOUL!!! XD Seriously, Nightmare's English VA alone (Ted D'Agostino) was enough to make me love him, but then he's already an awesome character to boot! Nightmare owns you, and he'd kick Siegfried's fanny anyday. *ashamed of cheering for the villain* {ALBEL/starocean:tilltheendoftime} I don't know what it is about Albel. He's just wicked (ha! caught that?), and that just makes him cool (am I a sucker for badboys?). Yeah, he dresses like a girl, but I can overlook that 'cause he's so menacing. The way he just calls everyone 'maggot' and 'worm' rather than by their name is hilarious. Hooray for Albel the Wicked! {NEL/starocean:tilltheendoftime} Honestly, I didn't really start liking Nel more than usual until I started reading AlbelxNel fanfics. I guess that's what did it. ^.^ In any case, the grown-up, mature woman of the party always ends up being my favorite female chara in RPGs. That's why I like Mirage better! XD {DANTE/devilmaycryseries} Dante's hot. Not only that, but Dante's awesome. In fact, he's so awesome, I'm just gonna sum up his awesomeness in a quote: 'Don't speak. Just die.' {GLENN/chronocross} I still don't know why I like him so much. He's SO not like all the other male charas I usually obsess over. Hmm, still need to figure this one out.... In any case, HD's Glint is based off him. ^_^ {QUISTIS/finalfantasyviii} Before Lulu, there was Quistis. Quistis is a pretty, mature character, the type I can usually connect with. She certainly didn't get the character development she deserved in FF8, that's for sure. {JESSICA/dragonquestviii} Despite her...provocative outfits in DQVIII, I found myself liking Jessica a lot as well. Maybe it was her sass, her attitude, or her seriousness, but she's definitely my favorite DQ character. (Well, there's Yangus....) I didn't pair her with anyone, either. ...Well, I did, but it was an EXTREME case of crossover crack-shipping....

Game Music

{MUSIC/finalfantasyx} Only a few songs on this soundtrack I don't like. Otherwise...AHHHHHH!!! XD Also, this OST introduced me to the amazing Masashi Hamauzu. {MUSIC/kingdomhearts} Some say Yoko Shimomura's music is repetitive. ...Okay, maybe it is, but I still like it. There are plenty of memorable melodies to hum along to, anyway, regardless of the terrible MIDI instruments. {MUSIC/kingdomhearts2} Some say Yoko Shimomura's music is repetitive. ...Okay, maybe it is, but I still like it. There are plenty of memorable melodies to hum along to, anyway, regardless of the terrible MIDI instruments. {MUSIC/soulcaliburiii} The music in this game = <3 for me. So majestic and epic. From sweeping scores like Symphony of Swords to the heroic overture of Healing Winds, this soundtrack inspires me for my own projects.

Game Relationships

{AVALANCHE/finalfantasyvii} Again with the 'entire ensemble' fandom. I like all the party members. All of them. Wow. I think all the FF7 fanboys/girls also realize that, which explains why FF7 is ONE of the most beloved FFs of all time. Yes, from a gameplay standpoint it was revolutionary, but RPGs are also heavily character and plot-based. (That's probably the main reason I love RPGs so much.) The party in FF7, I believe, has the best chemistry of any other FF group. ...And I don't mean that 'romantically.' I mean their interaction in general: romantically, friendly, antagonistically, everything. They get along so well, and their conversations are so interesting...in summary...they mesh well. You don't really wanna choke and kill any of them, even the ones you love to hate. ^_^ {AURONxJECHTxBRASKA/finalfantasyx} Um...I like their interaction in a friendly way, not yaoi. Eww.... {ALBELxNEL/starocean:tilltheendoftime} A pure crackpairing, but that's what the lovely world of fanfiction is known for. For another helping of crackpairings, check out my fanfic Sailor Fantasymoon. Trust me, it's not who you think....

Anime/Manga

{bishoujosenshiSAILORMOON} What more can I say about this show that hasn't already been said to death? It got me into anime. It got me into the magical girl genre. I almost owe this show--as messed-up as it can be at times--my life. ^^; {BERSERK} I know, you're thinking 'how far off from Sailor Moon can you get than *Berserk*?!' X3 I know, but I can't help it. My friend introduced me to this dark series, and I hold a deep respect for it to this day. I haven't had the chance to read the manga yet; thus, I'm behind as far as characters and storylines go. Hopefully I'll be able to catch back up one day. {NARUTO} Granted I haven't been watching this series much lately, as I've been searching for something new to get into. However, this series did capture my attention for a while, and some day I may get back into it. I just feel so far behind, even after watching a ton of Japanese episodes on YouTube.... {TEXHNOLYZE} One of the moodiest and darkest series I've ever seen (catching a pattern here?), but nonetheless, it carries with it a rich message about human nature and our desire to survive. I've never seen anything like it, which is probably why it's here on my favorites list. Like Berserk, it's not for the squeamish, however. {HAIBANERENMEI} Such a deep and mystical series. Though it was paced very slowly, it gave just enough hints for you to draw your own conclusions about the plot, the characters, and the setting--which in itself was interesting enough to keep my attention. Another life-changing show. {FULLMETALALCHEMIST} ...But nothing beats good old-fashioned action! I'm not an uber-fan of FMA, but while it was on TV it had my full attention. Why? Mainly because...of the 'battle system.' -_- Yes, the battle system was so unique, using alchemy. Throwing in the Philosopher's Stone, Homunculi, a completely developed world, and different types of alchemists only made the series that much more intriguing. To put it shortly, it had a unique plot and unique (action) premise. That's what drew me in. {shinshirayukihimedensetsuPRÉTEAR} Just what I was looking for in terms of the magical girl genre. Again, what drew me to this show was not necessarily the characters or the plot but the freakin' battle system! ...I have a problem, I know. XD {MAGICKNIGHTRAYEARTH/season1} The show that solidified my interest in anime was Magic Knight Rayearth--particularly Season 1. It did a great job of maintaining that magical girl feel while integrating elements from my other great passion: role-playing games. I loved the character designs, as well--in case you couldn't tell, my project 'Hyper Dimension' was heavily influenced from this show.

Anime Characters

{BRANDONHEATa.k.a.GRAVE/gungrave} Brandon is now my favorite anime guy of all time. Why? 'Cause he's sweet, quiet, and gorgeous...and a ruthless mafia killer. I'd love to have a boyfriend like that! XD {JUDEAU/berserk} I always felt bad for Judeau. ...Well, the Berserk characters have crappy fates in general, but Judeau dies. (Whoops...did I just spoil that? X|) And though I adore the canon GutsxCaska pairing, I felt so bad watching Judeau care for Caska from afar. It was so obvious he loved her. But...I like Guts.... Aww, man!!! X|. {CASKA/berserk} I truly believe Caska is black. That's just cool. Because even if she wasn't, she STILL is one of my favorite female anime characters. She kicked butt and took names, and she could hold her own even during her PERIOD! (For the record, there should be a hatelisting for menstrual periods because they thoroughly suck.) She must be FINE, though, 'cause every time she turns around someone wants to rape her! What a horrible life, man! XD {RAN/texhnolyze} Texhnolyze is a rare anime from the hands of the director of Serial Experiments Lain. I suppose what attracted me to Ran is her tragic story. She fits the mold of the quiet, wise characters I'm always liking, but I found myself actually REALLY caring about what happened to her and Ichise. Really. If Ichise had a fanlisting, I'd probably join that, too. Angst rocks! ^_^

Anime Relationships

{MEIERxCHARLOTTE/vampirehunterd:bloodlust} One of my favorite anime couples of all time. I don't know why. I think the beauty of the movie and the storytelling is really what did it, but I found myself more attached to these two than any of the other characters (even D). -_- Oh well, I hope they actually did find happiness...even though Charlotte...nevermind. ^^;; {GUTSxCASKA/berserk} My other favorite anime couple of all time. I'm not usually ecstatic about canon couples, not because I want to mix and match and rearrange them, but because I just don't...care about them that much. 'Oh, they got together. That's great.' I don't really spaz about it too terribly, especially if I know they're going to get together. ...But if there's a couple that has overcome unsurmountable odds and went through...well...basically...hell just to get to their happy ending, well, that's another story. Guts and Caska are one such couple. Both have had horribly tragic lives, and both were inevitably betrayed by Griffith. Man, Caska becomes a mute, anyway, so they technically didn't even get a happy ending. (I haven't read the manga, yet.) However, most of the great and memorable couples don't GET happy endings. In fact, in my opinion, the best ones end in tragedy. Look at Romeo and Juliet. They both DIED. (And Juliet was 13. XP) And I enjoyed FFX's ending too, until they ruined it with flowers and sprinkles in FFX-2. 'Look, look, they really DO get together, see?!' ...Bleh. It was better when Tidus's fate was left to the imagination. ...Well, anyway, I digress. Guts and Caska go down in history in my book, but that's all thanks to Berserk's beautifully twisted storytelling. Whoo-hoo! {URYUUxORIHIME/bleach} I'm not a huge fan of Bleach, as I've only begun watching it on Cartoon Network. I have to say, right now it's so-so. But for some reason the idea of these two together activates my inner fangirl--big time. Right now I'm mainly watching the show to see the interaction between these two, honestly. I can't pinpoint why that is, but I like these two together. I'm glad to see that at least 400 other people agree that this is the best pairing for Uryuu and/or Orihime. ^_^

Anime/Manga Miscellaneous

{CLOWCARDS/cardcaptorsakura} Sigh. I actually bought the Clow Book with all the collectable cards in them...because I'm a geek. But once AGAIN the 'battle system' is the reason I watched CCS--and the cards made the battle system. I liked how each card had its own weaknesses and could be combined or canceled out with others.... It was like Pokemon--only cooler. {studioGONZO} ...The producers of the most beautiful anime series I've ever seen...visually. I can only dream. O.O {genre:MAGICALGIRL} ...'Cause it's all about the magic costumes, transformations, and five-minute introduction speeches! {genre:SHOUNEN} ...'Cause it's all about the action, in-your-face humor, and grit!

Musicians

{SARAHMCLACHLAN} I only have the pleasure of owning two of Sarah McLachlan's most recent albums: Surfacing and Afterglow. However, she quickly became my favorite English-language singer back in middle school, when I first heard the songs 'Adia' and 'Building a Mystery' on VH1. ...Yeah, back when they actually DID focus on music. Anyway, I've been hooked ever since, though Frou Frou/Imogen Heap is quickly surpassing her on my favorite singer queue. {FROUFROU} Sarah might have to move over now, because I think I may have a new English-language favorite singer. Frou Frou is a British duo consisting of Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth, though they are currently pursuing their own individual interests. -_- I was introduced to Frou Frou from...believe it or not...'Shrek 2.' -_- I heard their cover of the song 'Holding Out for a Hero' during the ending, and I loved it. MANY months later, I first heard 'Let Go' on a local radio station--not the movie 'Garden State,' surprisingly. I...was...HOOKED. I immediately recognized the voice and arrangement style, and afterwords I went and pursued their only album, Details. ...It did not disappoint. I worship that CD. {IMOGENHEAP} ...But I'm starting to worship Imogen Heap's solo CD, Speak for Yourself, even more. As I said, Frou Frou broke up, and Immi is now singing in her own solo career. ...All I could think was...AHHHHHHHHH!!! XD! And as soon as I heard the crack-potently addictive opening track, 'Headlock,' it was a wrap. {UTADAHIKARU} Hikki, as she's called, is my favorite Japanese-language singer. She's off-key sometimes, but her inventive and original melodies and harmonies more than make up for it. I LIKE her voice, anyway. And I prefer her Japanese songs to her English ones. They just...sound better for some reason. o_O Oh well, it's all good.

Miscellaneous

{NOMURA} THE MAN!!! My favorite Japanese artist. I want to be him, seriously. He's directing, now, too. Sigh. -_- {HYUNGTAEKIM} The detail in his drawings is ridiculous (like his female characters' breast sizes), but it deserves to be admired (like his female characters' breast sizes). XD {TRENCHCOATS} Yes, I'm a fan of trenchcoats. No, I don't hide guns in them or whatever. I just like how long and swishy they are. They look mysterious. Those are stupid reasons. XD But being a fan of a particular article of clothing is stupid and vain for any reason. Clothing really serves one function, and that's to shield our naked bodies. ^_^ What started my obsession with trenchcoats? Probably The Matrix. Or maybe Sephiroth. I have no idea. However, now I love drawing them and almost all my characters have them. Repetitive, indeed, ...but FUN! {CHOKERS} Though I don't wear them, I wish I did. I'm just too lazy to go out and buy some. Thank Sailor Moon for the obsession. -_- {ANTI-SOCIAL} Yeah, I'm anti-social. Yeah, I have a small group of friends. So what? ...Go away! XI {PARENTS} Though my parents are divorced, I still appreciate both of them. After all, if it weren't for them, I wouldn't exist...not to mention they save my butt whenever I'm in trouble. XD Here's to you, Mom and Dad! {BROTHERS} I guess you can tell by now that I'm a big family person. Well yeah, I luv my two brothers, so I thought I'd show them some appreciation by joining this fanlisting. Yay!
